04 Jun RONA16
The Australian Earth Laws Alliance (AELA) is calling out to all Australians working in the creative industries, to help promote the rights of the natural world.
On 22 October 2016, AELA will host Australia’s first Rights of Nature Tribunal. This non-government, citizen’s tribunal will hear cases presented by individuals and organisations concerned about the destruction of ecosystems and the Earth community in Australia. These will include cases on the Forests of Australia, the Great Artesian Basin and the Great Barrier Reef.
To support this landmark Tribunal, AELA Earth Arts is running RONA16, a nation-wide series of creative events to celebrate the incredible natural world we call home.
Earth Arts is the creative branch of AELA, with its own dedicated team of arts and legal professionals, who deliver research and events that explicitly connect the philosophies and practice between the arts, environment and governance. Each year, Earth Arts focuses their work on a specific program, in 2016 its RONA16 focusing on the Rights of Nature.
AELA Earth Arts extends an open invitation to everyone to participate in RONA16.
There are two opportunities to get involved in RONA16: attend the national event series at the Brisbane Powerhouse this October; or host your own event in your local bioregion during September – October (every style of celebration is welcomed: art exhibitions, performances, creative conversations).
This is a great opportunity for the Arts to use their unique skills and help promote the Rights of Nature.
